Sign Of Peace: To Shake Hands Or To Kiss

I saw a question from an online group where a guy was asking if it is okay for him to kiss his girlfriend during the Sign of Peace at Mass.

In addition to the shock I got that he was even asking such a question, I was even more shocked at the answers I saw from other people telling him that it was okay for him to kiss his girlfriend during the Sign of Peace.

Honestly??!Β  No! NO, IT IS NOT OKAY!!

Have people become so sexually loose that it is now permissible for the unmarried to kiss???Β  Β  In the House of God??!

Even if it is not tongue-on-tongue kissing or lip-on-lip or EVEN cheek-kissing, don’t do it.

YOU. ARE. NOT. MARRIED.

The first kiss anybody should see you give your girlfriend is on your wedding day, at the altar, AFTER the priest declares you man and wife.

What if the relationship does not work out?Β  What if you drift apart?
Then the entire Church will see you kissing girl after girl after girl.

No!! Show some respect in the House of God and do not be a source of scandal.

Unless you are married, no kissing in the house of God during Mass – period.

And even if you are married, the last thing you want to do is a full-on snog in Church.

During Mass, my husband and I do not kiss on the lips – ever!
A quick hug and a cheek kiss is more than adequate for us.
And this is exactly what I have seen other married couples do.

Mass is not the place for PDA – especially if you are unmarried.

Want to show off your girl to others and proudly declare “she is mine!”?

Put a ring on her finger, marry her and then you can give her a discreet kiss during the Sign of Peace…..on the cheek only!

Otherwise, shake her hand, like other people do.

THIS ARTICLE tells you what sort of PDAs are acceptable for courting couples and when.

Ladies, if your boyfriend decides to kiss you during Mass, put your hand up to his face and block him.

If he is unwilling to propose to you and marry you before PDAs like these, understand that he does not respect you, value you, your character, your honour and your reputation,Β  and he wants to make sure that he keeps you on the shelf, with no commitment whatsoever, and at the same time, block your chance of any guy showing interest in you.

A man like that with no honour will string you along for years and then discard you, by which time, no Catholic man will want to date you – especially after he has so publicly marked you as his property without doing the right thing first.

No man really wants to be with a woman who has so blatantly been public property of another.Β  Men are territorial, remember that.

Personally, I’d never allow PDAs from a guy unless I was engaged or married to him.

You want public ownership of me as your girl? Make it official!

Seriously, what is wrong with people?!
