Anniversary Of The Miracle Of The Sun

Today, October 13th, is the Feast Day of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Fatima, often shortened to Our Lady of Fatima. This is a Marian title for the appearance of the Mother of God at Fatima, Portugal during WWI.

Our Lady of Fatima is also co-patroness of Traditional Catholic Femininity and she was the one who led me to start this ministry  (read about it HERE) that has grown so big and had such major impact on people’s lives.  What i thought would be a little unimportant blog has grown into a viral ministry, and not only do I feel the burden of the weight of responsibility of what that entails, but i am immensely humbled that Our Lady chose to use me to create such impactful change.

Our Lady appeared to 3 shepherd children Lucia, Jacinta, and Franscisco for the first time on May 13th 1917. Every month on the 13th thereafter, she appeared to them and instructed them with messages to teach the world.

Our Lady told them that if Catholics would pray the Rosary sincerely in reparation for sin that the war would end. She also told the children that many people suffer in Hell because nobody prays for them and that the Church needs to be offering prayers and sacrifices for the benefit of those people. Her final point was that Jesus is greatly offended by the many sins of the people.

Our Lady told the children that if men do not repent of their evils and seek God that Christ will allow an even greater conflict to come in the future and that the world will be chastised with wars, famines, disasters and suffering of all kinds.

She warned that Russia would “spread her errors across the world” we know this was Communism which caused more human suffering than any other ideology ever. She warned that Russian errors would cause much persecution for the Church and pain for the Holy Father.  We know Communists persecuted Catholics everywhere they went from Poland to Vietnam to Nicaragua. Because of these revelations, the Fatima Prayer was added to the Rosary to make reparations and ask forgiveness of Jesus for our sins.

On this day, October 13, in 1917, the “Miracle of the Sun” occurred during Our Lady’s final apparition in Fátima, Portugal, where tens of thousands witnessed the miraculous event, after the three shepherd children told people about the visions of the Virgin Mary who had appeared to them on six occasions prior and told people that Our Lady would send them a miracle as proof that they were not lying.

An estimated 70,000 people gathered at Cova da Iria despite heavy rain, and the three children asked Our Lady for a sign for the people.  According to thousands of witnesses gathered, the clouds parted and the sun became huge, danced, spun, changed colours and zigzagged, seemingly plunging towards the earth before returning to its place in the sky.
This cannot be attributed to a collective hallucination, because the phenomenon was seen within nearly a twenty-five-mile radius by various individuals, includong mariners off the shores of Portugal and and people at inland locations.

While the sun was spinning around and changing colors, the three young shepherds alone saw a vision that symbolized the three sets of the mysteries of the Rosary:
Representing the Joyful Mysteries: Saint Joseph appeared with the Child Jesus and Our Lady. Saint Joseph and the Child Jesus were blessing the world.
Representing the Sorrowful Mysteries: Our Lord appeared with Our Lady of Sorrows.
Representing the Glorious Mysteries: The Blessed Virgin in Heaven was seen holding the Brown Scapular of Mount Carmel.

The event of the Miracle of the Sun lasted approximately 10 minutes and elicited gasps from the crowd, and many people reported that their rain-soaked clothes dried instantly. Every single person who was there testified to seeing the sun dance, and even non-believers who immediately dropped onto their knees and begged for forgiveness from God.

Among the observers were believers, skeptics, and even anti-Catholic individuals. Remarkably, this event was reported by the anti-Catholic, Freemasonic newspaper O Seculo, which gave credence to the phenomenon despite its typical opposition to the Church.

The “Miracle of the Sun” remains one of the most famous religious events in modern Catholic history.
