St Dominic, a Castilian Catholic priest and founder of the Dominican Order, the Order of the Preachers.
He received from the Blessed received from the Virgin Mary the Holy Rosary with the 15 Decades.
Our Lady told him that he would have much greater success, in converting the heretics and sinners, if he were to say all the 15 decades.
St Dominic was a zealous lover and preacher of the Gospel. His motto is: *To praise, to bless, to preach*
He stood for the truth, defended the truth and shared the truth.
His Feast Day is August 4th in the traditional rite and August 8th in the new rite.
His spiritual children number 69 canonized Saints, including St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Vincent Ferrer, and St. Pius V.
He is the patron saint of astronomers, scientists, people of the Dominican Republic, and all Dominican religious, nuns, friars, professed, postulants, discerning and lays.
