Bring Out Your Bikes

The weather is a little bit nicer, the sun is out, and what better way to enjoy the sunshine, get in some exercise, and engage in a rewarding feminine activity than to go cycling!

And if you are married and/or have children, it makes a great bonding family activity to go out together as a family on your bikes on short trips…..perhaps stopping in a nice park for a little picnic as you all enjoy the natural views.

Before my husband and I started our family, we would regularly go on bike rides around our local area and when children came along, we now take them with us.

We now live on the outskirts of the city, close to the countryside, and seeing families with children as young as 2 months old on family bike rides is a very common sight.

However, you do not need to live in the countryside or suburbs to enjoy cycling.  Cities in places like France, The Netherlands, Austria, and so on have strong cycling cultures.

Single, married, young, or old, cycling is not just a great creative hobby and a good way to socialise and exercise, it is also fantastic for strengthening your muscles and your bones.  For older women who are particularly prone to joint and bone problems, cycling will keep you fit, your bones strong and your joints flexible and healthy, as well as bolstering good heart health too!

It is a fantastic date activity, but can also be a good way to make friends, meet new people, enlarge your social circle or even find new romance, without going through the murky waters of online dating.  Simply search for and then join cycling clubs or organisations that are local to you.

So if you have a bike gathering dust in your shed or garage, why not bring it out, give it a good clean or service, and get riding? You can even do a Google search for local mobile bike repair shops that would be willing to pick up your bike, clean and service it, and then return it to you, ready to ride.

Cycling has so many benefits for our physical health, fitness, and mental wellbeing, and a bike is always a good investment. Don’t have a bike?  You can even order one online and have it delivered to you.

If, like me, you like vintage or classic bikes, you can find preowned bikes online at really good prices. Classic or vintage bikes also add a classic, elegant, and feminine flair too,

Riding a bike is a skill that everyone should have mastered by adulthood and I was rather surprised that there are some people, mainly millennials, who cannot ride a bike. But it is never too late to learn, if you are an adult who hasn’t learned to ride a bike.

Biking is also a TCF-approved feminine activity and hobby that any woman of any age can engage in, even if you are 90 years old!!
