A while ago, a TCF reader asked me if rock music was bad…….even if the lyrics are not bad.

I can almost see where this reader is going.

“Hey Paige, but what about Christian rock bands?ย  Their songs are about God and Christianity.ย  Surely, it must be okay to listen to them.”

As you know, I learn from those wiser and more experienced than me and these mentors of mine include Mother Angelica and Fr. Ripperger – two solid Catholic figures who are uncompromising in their faith.

Mother Angelica has spoken out against rock music of all kinds. And, yes, I do mean ALL KINDS…….including the so-called ‘Christian’ rock music.

Rock music is never okay to listen to. Period.

Satan dressing up evil in pretty clothes doesn’t make it less evil.

According to Fr Ripperger, the problem with rock music isnโ€™t just in the lyrics.

It is in the music structure and patterns itself, which encourage reckless, rebellious behaviour and even demonic activity.

In addition, music tends to continue to work on and even alter the subconscious mind, long after you have listened to it. Many people who listen to rock music tend to be prone to depression and anxiety.

As such rock music is best avoided…..and this includes the so-called โ€œChristian’ rock music, which is as much an oxymoron as the term โ€œcatholic feministโ€ or “virgin prostitute”

I know this can be hard.ย  Trust me, I can relate…..as I myself used to love rock music!

Fr. Ripperger also said that Gregorian chant music is the top tier music

If you honestly want to level up your life, play background Gregorian chant whilst asleep, studying or simply at home.

When my little ones were babies and very fussy, Gregorian music and classical music calmed them down immensely.

Forget lullabies!ย  My little rugrats slept through the night with Gregorian music softly playing in the background.

The eldest in the past year started playing Gregorian chants in the background as they studied for school and even I have seen an improvement in their grades.

Fr. Ripperger said that in terms of ideal music to listen to, classical music (especially instrumental music) is better and Gregorian chant music is best.

There are numerous scientific studies that have been made on the benefits of classical music for study, work, and overall life improvement.ย  It has even been said that when children and babies in utero listen to classical music, it makes them calmer and enables them to develop very good cognitive skills.

Remember when expectant mothers would play classical music via headphones on their bumps?ย  This is the reason why.

The mothers knew of the scientific studies and wanted to birth and raise smarter, more intelligent babies.

I experienced better health, focus, insights that improved my life and finances, better behaviour in the kids, and overall increased discernment that led me to take decisions in my life that have protected me from dangerous or harmful incidents.

I used to have terrible insomnia and nothing helped much – not binaural beats and not even white noise, but Gregorian chants did the trick.

Even plants grow and respond better to classical music and especially Gregorian chant music.ย  If Gregorian chant can have such an amazing effect on plants, imagine what it can do for you and your children!

I encourage you to play Gregorian chants if you are pregnant. It doesn’t just help the baby; it helps momma too – promoting a healthy, complication-free pregnancy and birth, and even reducing blood pressure.

Play it around your kids and even when they are studying for focus, better absorption of material and increased cognition.

Play it in the car as you drive to work or on your headphones as you go about your daily duties for mental clarity, focus, discernment, wisdom, and beneficial insights that will enhance your life.

If you are a student yourself, Gregorian chant can help you excel in your studies.

Here are more tips and advice for students.

I have also set up a free Gregorian Chant playlist on my Spotify which you can listen to HERE.

Seriously, try out Gregorian Chants for at least 6 months and then report back to me on the benefits you have seen in your life. I dare say you will be pleasantly surprised.

Upgrade your life with Gregorian Chants.

For best effects, go for Gregorian Chants by monks or nuns, not secular or classical choirs.

  1. Thank you for sharing this with us. I love Gregorian chant and use it with prayer. May I suggest a group called Harpa Dei? Four siblings sing Acapella–their sound is so lovely and soothing.

  2. I totally agree. My husband and I only listen to classical music and wonderful works by William Byrd (Mass for five voices) and such like. Our cats love classical music. One of them even begins to purr everytime he hears any.
