Pentecost And The Holy Spirit

Pentecost (Greek for 50th day), referred to as the birth of the Church, is celebrated by Christians 50 days after Easter, and marks the day that the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles.

Happy birthday to the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church!!

After Jesus ascended into heaven, the disciples prayed for 9 days for the Holy Spirit, “the promise of my Father” (Lk 24:49).
On the 10th day, they received the Holy Spirit, on Pentecost Sunday!

This makes the Holy Spirit novena (9 day prayer) the first and original novena of the Catholic Church

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful
And enkindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created
And you shall renew the face of the earth. Amen
